Sabor Sajoma started with a simple idea: to bring a piece of home to New Haven. Maria and Humberto Espinal, both from the Dominican Republic, wanted to share the food they grew up with and the traditions that have stayed with them over the years.

“Sajoma” comes from San Jose de las Matas, Maria’s hometown, and the place that inspired so much of what they brought to the restaurant. At its heart, Sabor Sajoma is a reflection of where they came from, what they grew up with, and what they’re proud to share with New Haven.
